For this case, we must find the area of the figure composed of a parallelogram and a right triangle.

Let:

a: Base

h: Height

The area of the triangle is given by:

A = \frac {b * h} {2}\\A = \frac {20 * 8} {2}\\A = \frac {160} {2}\\A = 80 \ in ^ 2

The area of the parallelogram is given by:

A = b.h\\A = 20 * 16\\A = 320 \ in ^ 2

The total area is given by the sum of the areas:

At = (80 + 320) in ^ 2\\At = 400 \ in ^ 2

Answer:

400 \ in ^ 2

Researchers wanted to know if there is a link between proximity to high-tension wires and the rate of leukemia in children. To
Allushta [10]

Answer:

No, because this is an observational study.

Step-by-step explanation:

The researchers found that the rate of leukemia for children near high-tension wires was higher than the rate for those not near high-tension wires.

So, the answer is No, the researchers cannot conclude that proximity with high-tension wires causes leukemia in children as this is only an observational study.

Observational study is that study where the researcher observes the effect of a risk factor, diagnostic test or treatment without trying to control who is or is not exposed to it.

How can I solve this? If you can please explain in-depth, thank you.
Elden [556K]

Step-by-step explanation:

I didn't know this off of the top of my head, and I used Google to help me. Simply searching "30 60 90 right triangle" gave me a few very helpful links. For future reference, if no one is answering here, Google may be your friend.

The (credible) site that I found tells me

"The basic 30-60-90 triangle ratio is:

Side opposite the 30° angle: x

Side opposite the 60° angle: x * √3

Side opposite the 90° angle: 2x"

The side opposite the 30 degree angle is a value called "x" according to this site. This would mean that y is x, which is confusing, so we can just say that the value of y is y (if you want to go a little more in depth, I will simply be referring to what the site refers to as "x" as "y"). To begin, the side opposite the 30 degree angle, which is 8√3, is y * √3. This means that y is 8. Then, the remaining side is 2*y, which is 16.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Tju [1.3M]

Answer:

She has 20 quarters.

Step-by-step explanation:

Alissa emptied her piggy bank for Disney world. She had $7.70.

If she had 10 pennies and twice as many times as quarters, then we can write the equation as

Q = 2P {Where, Q represents the number of quarters and P for pennies}

⇒ Q = 10 × 2

⇒ Q = 20

So, she has 20 quarters.

Therefore, she has 20 quarters. (Answer)
