Maria Goretti fought against his attacker while shouting that he would rather die than practice this sin, which caused his attacker to deliver 11 knife blows against the girl who struck his vital organs and caused his death. Because of her courage to protect her chastity and turn away from sin even in such a violent moment, she was canonized. As Christian principles say that every being who serves God must forgive his enemies and those who do him wrong, people believed that Mary had forgiven her attacker and therefore would like him to observe his canonization with her mother.
