Black Power is the main slogan of a campaign directed to fight for the rights and freedoms of US African American citizens. This movement was specially strong during the 1960s and 1970s decades and it encouraged the creation of social, political and cultural institutions that took care for black people interests only, emphasizing their pride and values and facing oppresion.

This slogan was used for the first time by Stokely Carmichael and Willie Ricks, who organized direct actions in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee.
