It is very important that younger voters understand the government, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It’s responsibility relies on the fact that the young voters are going to inherit a nation and son, they are going to be the Officials, the legislators, the men and women that are going to lead the country.

That is why young voters need to understand three important components of the nation: the government, the constitution and the Bill of Rights.

The government, because young voters have to understand how the U.S. is ruled by the three branches: the Executive, the Legislative and the Judicial.

The Constitution, because there lies the foundation of the U.S. All the laws that are enforced in America are part of the Constitution.

The Bill of Rights, because is the document that protects the rights that have the citizens of the U.S. The young voters need to know that their fundamental rights are protected and being the case, they need to defend them if the government would considered otherwise. Among these rights, they are free speech, free press, free religion, and free assembly.

So, the young voters have to be very conscious that expressing their ideas through voting is a right, it is a privilege because not all countries are democracies and it is a responsibility if they want to keep the future of America safe.

Younger voters have to better understand government and the constitution and bill of rights as:

 1. Declining Voter Turnout: Democracy becomes stronger if more and more people exercise their right to vote. But many states find a declining voter turnout which is a sign of worry for democracy itself.
 2. Education:::Well educated people understand complex issues better and have learnt the importance of civic responsibility.Educated people are more likely to vote.
 3. Age:::The younger the voters start, the more they understand what is there in the Bill of Rights. But rights and responsibilities go together.
 4. Racial and Ethnic Groups :::If race and ethnicity is considered, white have a higher percentage of voting compared to blacks.
 5. Gender::::Earlier women were underrepresented but in recent years, women are coming out to vote almost in equal number to me which is very encouraging for a healthy democracy.
 6. Participation in Government::Some of the younger voters might be inclined to participate in the government.
