Every society that has ever existed has known at least some form of art. Various artifacts and images dating from the Stone Ages, the beginnings of human existence, have been discovered, indicating that art has always been an important part of our lives. It can be said that the impulse to make and respond to art, just like the ability to learn languages, is something that makes humans stand out, something that makes us very different from other animals.
It is not okay. Unless the artist learned about the culture but if they don’t they are doing cultural appropriation. It definitely matters what race is involved a white artist can’t do a Chicana (Mexican culture) music. Even if credit is given they should respect the culture
