Why do a lot of people doubt the existence of God in horrific situations like the Holocaust or school shootings

Answer: my opinion is that people think doubt this because they think god would of helped them get out of that situation but they didnt. These are extremely sad moments and its almost like you think its gods fault for not making this terrible accident stop before anyone got hurt i really hope this helps
