Yousafzai was shot by a gunman on Oct. 9, 2012, in Karachi Pakistan, at  age of 11, Malala Yousafzai took on the Taliban by giving voice to her dreams. She was shot in the head for going to school, by Taliban gunmen. She was shot because she spoke up for the right of girls to be educated. The world reacted in horror, but after weeks Malala survived.

A group of 50 Islamic clerics in Pakistan issued a a ruling of Islamic law  against the Taliban gunmen who tried to kill Yousafzai.
