American colonies were angry about paying taxes that were passed by the British Parliament because they had no representatives that voted on the tax. This proclamation prevented many colonists from moving west onto the land that Britain won in the war. It was done by Britain to allow the Native Americans to keep the land and stop attacking the settlers who wanted to move there. This was a tax law that said the colonists had to pay taxes on all printed paper including stamps, newspapers, pamphlets, marriage licenses, and playing cards.
