Answer:

d. Rip is unmoved by the news of his wife’s death.

Explanation:

Washington Irving's short story "Rip van Winkle" tells the fantasy story of how the protagonist 'slept' through two decades to up to a whole new world, completely different from his last one.

Before the "<em>sleep</em>", Rip van Winkle had gone to the mountains to escape his wife's constant nagging, taking his dog with him. There, he met a group of strange old men who gave him a drink. The next time he woke up, things had completely changed. His dog was no more, the village had look different, his children had grown up and had children of their own and even the American colony had gained independence from the British.

Once home, he asked about his wife, he was told that she had died "<em>a short time since</em>", giving him "<em>a drop of comfort, at least, in this intelligence</em>". He was unmoved with the death of his wife. Rather, he exclaimed to his daughter and told him his identity. He spent his life hanging around "<em>the rising generation, with whom he soon grew into great favor</em>".

Juvenile programs that are considered ineffective are usually characterized by too heavy a focus on________.
Alexxandr [17]

Answer:

Discipline

Explanation:

juvenile programs that employ excessive use of discipline or punishments and deterrence become ineffective in teaching the child what is required. This is because excesses in discipline and deterrence measures quickly move the focus and fail to address the need or the reason behind the behavior required and therefore lead to more damaging behaviours such as lying, cheating, sneaking and even more blatant rebellion etc

In a study of gang behavior, Jankowski (1991) purposefully included at least some participants from several different ethnic gan
spayn [35]

Answer:

The type of sampling used in Jankowski's study of gangs is Option D. Stratified sampling.

Explanation:

With stratified sampling, the researcher will partition the population into different groups, usually based on some characteristic that is common to that group. In this case, it was the different kinds of gang membership. Then, the researcher will take a sample of people within each specific group using another sampling method like simple random sampling for instance. The groups that are used in stratified sampling are called strata. Another example would be a national survey that is divided into strata of the different major ethnic groups that comprise the national population.
