Thoroughly explain nick states, "I thought of Gatsby's wonder when he first picked out the green light at the end of Daisy's doc
k. He had come a long way to this blue one, and his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it." Explain what the colors green and blue symbolize in this quote
The color green symbolizes life and success. The light at the end of the dock is something Gatsby looks towards and symbolically this is him looking to find success. Blue is a symbol of fantasy and romanticized ideals (things that cannot be because they are untrue). Daisy is also symbolic of a romantic dream for Gatsby. He imagines her better, sweeter, etc. than she really is. She is unattainable because Gatsby's Daisy, the one he invents in his mind and heart, does not exist.
The figurative language being used in the passage is an
example of Jargon. It is because based on the passage, the priest made use of
religious terms in his everyday speaking habit that made it to be hard for a
normal person to do so without any religious background in which Jargon is
being defined as a characteristic language in which is used by a particular or
specific group.
