-8x-8y=0

Solve -8x-8y=0 for x

-8x-8y+8y=0+8y

-8x=8y

x=-1y

-8x+2y=-20

Substitute -1y for x

-8(-1y)+2y=-20

8y+2y=-20

10y=-20

y=-2

Substitute -2 for y

x=-1y

x=-1(-2)

x=2
