The access to power was the direct result of the REA for farmers.

REA is the Rural Electrification Act (1936).

The REA was part of a program from President Frankling Delano Roosevelt designed to overcome the effects of the Depression years.

In 1935 only ten percent of isolated rural areas had electrical power.

The REA law granted long-term funding for farmers in the form of loans which were allowed to be given for states and territories to implant, improve and maintain rural electrification in the United States.

Compare the monarchies of Peter the Great and Charles II
Klio2033 [76]
Peter the great tried to Westernize Russia, and therefore industrialize it. In this way he was a progressive monarch, trying to change things for the better. Yet Charles II wanted complete control over his people and so tried to get rid of the parliament which resulted in the English Civil War. Yet Peter the Great tried to liberalize Russia, giving people rights to revitalize their economy and country.
