The Great Migration is the term that refers to the humongous movement of the African Americans out of the south to the North. This migration started from the world war 1 era. this made the migrants move to areas like Pittsburgh, New York, Illinois, Chicago and so on.
The reason for the 'Great Migration' is for the economic benefits created by the war. The African Americans worked in war industries to earn a living, taking the occasion of war to advantage. Other reasons for the migration was to evade slavery which is more in the south.
