Revision involve clarifying purpose and meaning

Revision refers to a stage in the writing process in which author alters, and modifies their messages in line with what is written in the draft. Writing involves a process that goes through different stages and revision is really what makes writing moves from one stage to another.

Further Explanation

Generally, revision is reworking and rewriting for the purpose of clarity and meaning. Revision is not just changing some few words, adding of sentences any how or removing materials that are not important. The purpose of revising is to restructure it, get rid of information or details that are not necessary, add new details, readjust paragraph and sentences, rewrite the sentences and paragraph, recheck whether the supporting evidence are correct, rephrase areas that are awkward, make proper editing and go over it again.

These are some of the questions that can guide revision of written work

 • Is the writing very clear? Does it have any meaning?
 • Is there sufficient information to support the ideas?
 • Is there unnecessary information that makes the writing look awkward?
 • Is the ideas flow in order that is logical?

 • Adding more necessary details
 • Removing unnecessary elements
