Animals that are much more diverse than other animals are more likely to survive better than others due to being complex. Specially if the animal is suited for the environment. Take a butterfly for an example, if in a forest all the trees look really dark. Then a butterfly with darker wings survives better than a butterfly with extreme bright wings bc the bright wings stand out so a bird might take it out
