Explanation:

The Compromise of 1850 acted as a temporary truce on the issue of slavery. The reason why is the Compromise worked out the issue of slavery in the North and South. The South is known to be "Slave States". But at this time everyone had slaves but majority of the slaves were located in the South. (So when you hear about freed slaves at the end of the Civil War most of them have moved to either Kansas or Missouri.) So becuase of the Missouri Compromise, Missouri has now freed its slaves along with slaves in Maine. It also learned how to deal with the spread of slavery into western territories. The compromise divided the lands of the Louisiana Purchase into two parts. Slavery would be allowed south of latitude 36 degrees 30'. So in conclusion this Compromise helped limit the amount of slaves in the south.
