A: it’s a simile; the river runs in a sleek, thin line along the ground.

A simile is a comparison between to things using like or as. In the detail about the river from "Boy Flying" the river is being compared to a silver track left by a snail. The word like indicates the comparison between the two things.

A hyperbole is an over exaggeration, such as my homework will take forever. A metaphor is a comparison between two things without using like or as such as my pillow is a cloud. Personification is giving nonhuman things human like traits such as the trees danced in the wind.

I can't help you with the answer as I haven't read the book. I can help you get to your own answer, though.

For question 5, think about how the book ended. What do you think will happen to the main character now? Think of the resolution as the "happy ending" where the big problem or conflict is solved. Include the quotations and parts of the book that helped you figure out what is going to happen to the main character.

Question 7 is asking you about the book's theme. Basically, it's asking what the moral or lesson of the story is. Does the story teach you about anything?
