Answer:

The book "The Sherman Letters" which includes correspondence of General and Senator Sherman from 1837 to 1891 is highly recommended. It is edited by Rechel Sherman Thorndike.

Also you can read historical novels.

For example, the book<em> "Neverhome"</em> by Laird Hunt. This novel tells the story of the 400 women who dressed up as men to fight in the battle against the Confederacy. In this literary work you can read about the war itself and also about the consequences of war on the lives of women.

Another recommended novel is the one that Edgar Lawrence Doctorow wrote called <em>"The March"</em>. In this work the author recounts the march of General Sherman to the sea.
