In the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson talk at length about how they were ignored thoroughly by the British people. Recognizing the former countrymen to have equal rights as the colonists as an idea of humanity, Jefferson compel to break with the former countrymen. He stated that everyone should be treated equally instead of resorting to resentment of name-calling.

Central argument presented in the Declaration of Independence is that a government must protect the rights of its people, and since Britain does not protect the rights of the colonists, a new government must be formed.

At the end of the Declaration of Independence, the signers pledge to die for what they believe in.
