Answer: (Choice B): We look forward to celebrating with you.

Explanation: The tone of a text is the attitude of the writer towards an audience. It differs according to the words the writer decides to use. This text is an invitation to Mr. and Mrs. Kaufman's daughter's wedding.  Therefore, it is written in a rather formal tone. The (Choice B): "We look forward to celebrating with you.", maintains the same formality, and never loses the cordial tone.

What literary device is most prominent in this excerpt from Williams’s poem, “The Widow’s Lament in Springtime”?
____ [38]

Answer:

the correct option is D: Antithesis

Explanation:

An Antithesis is a literary device which features opposing or contrary ideas side by side to achieve a contrasting effect.

<em>"Though they were my joy"....</em>then he adds<em> </em><em>formerly </em>thus negating or reversing the first phrase. The same goes for the second line in the excerpt:

<em>"today I notice them..." </em>then he adds "<em>and turn away forgetting</em>" thus flipping the first part of the sentence. Hence the contrasts are used to creatively highlight his thoughts.

Cheers!

The cask of amontillado how do carnival tradition add to the mood of the story
Marina CMI [18]

Answer and Explanation:

"The Cask of Amontillado" is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe. The narrator and main character is Montresor, who tells readers of his vicious revenge against his friend Fortunato.

It is interesting to notice that the general mood of the story is sinister, ominous. All the time, due to the author's use of word choice and imagery, while he leads us down the catacombs with the characters, we have this foreboding feeling. We know something bad and scary will happen. <u>However, for a brief moment at the beginning of the story, the mood is one of enjoyment, of fun. That is because Montresor goes out to meet with Fortunato during a Carnival celebration. The streets are filled with people drinking, dancing, and smiling. It is important to pay attention to Montresor, though, for his resolution does not waver for a second. Even amidst the celebration, even upon finding happy and ignorant Fortunato, Montresor does not let go of his desire for vengeance.</u>
