Following the aftermath of the French and Indian War often referred to as the Seven years war, in which Great Britain had won, albeit with great debts in financing the war.

Main Claim: The British government imposed various imperial policies that revolve around the heavy taxation and suppression of the colonists.  Some of these policies include Sugar Acts, Stamp Acts, Currency Acts, Tea Acts, etc.

Sub claim:  The British government, imposed the aforementioned policies on the colonist because they attempt to recoup the money for the war and maintain the vast territory gained after the war.

However, this recent stringent enforcement of various policies of Great Britain among the colonists, caused colonists to seek independence. This started with an increase in colonists' resistance to British governance and their agitation to republican merits and virtues.
