Bush. Bush was declared the winner and eventually made a name for himself in the state votes needed for the presidency.  Gore did not behave wisely: he appealed to the Florida Supreme Court to obtain an injunction for this purpose.
• But the next day, the U.S. Supreme Court intervened and ordered the suspension of the recount and, therefore, Bush became the new tenant of the White House.  Since then, this election is a bad memory for Florida, which has damaged its reputation nationally due to doubts over the ability of local authorities.
