The correct answer is:

To persuade.

Explanation:

Elizabeth I was the Queen of England and Ireland. She is also known as the Virgin Queen because she never got married. Queen Elizabeth I is the last monarch of the Tudor Dynasty.

Queen Elizabeth I responded to the Parliament's Request that she marry in a persuasive tone to convince the members that a Queen was perfectly capable of ruling effectively on her own. That she didn't need to marry to have a strong rule, because she had the qualities of a strong leader and she would never make personal choices that could harm England.

Answer:

The best answer to the question: Queen Elizabeth´s overall purpose in her "Response to Parliament´s Request That She Marry" is to:___, would be: Persuade.

Explanation:

It must be remembered that Queen Elizabeth I ascended the English throne amongst a lot of discomfort in her people basically because she was a woman, and she was unmarried. When she made the decision not to marry, and thus assume the title of "Virgin Queen", people in general, but most importantly Parliament, tried to both persuade, and even force, the Queen, through different stratagems, to marry. Their argument was that an unmarried woman, as ruler, made the nation weaker and could threaten the monarchical lineage by not providing an heir to the throne. In her speech, given in 1559, Queen Elizabeth tells Parliament her arguments in favor of her position and also resolves their doubts as regards to the stability of the kingdom under her rule, and especially regarding inheritance. She assures them that she will make sure her rule becomes one of the best and strongest, and that when she passes the kingdom along, there will be an appropriate heir to ensure the continuation and wellbeing of her beloved nation. Through her words, Elizabeth seeks to persuade and convince Parliament that they accept her choice and support her in it.
