Answer:

(a) The probability that a randomly selected athlete uses a stairclimber for  less than 19 minutes is 0.2388.

(b) The probability that a randomly selected athlete uses a stairclimber for  between 24 and 33 minutes is 0.3997.

(c) The probability that a randomly selected athlete uses a stairclimber for  more than 40 minutes is 0.0113.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that the amounts of time per workout an athlete uses a stairclimber are normally distributed, with a mean of 24 minutes and a standard deviation of 7 minutes.

Let X = <u><em>amounts of time per workout an athlete uses a stairclimber</em></u>

So, X ~ Normal(\mu=24,\sigma^{2} =7^{2})

The z-score probability distribution for the normal distribution is given by;

                               Z  =  \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}  ~ N(0,1)

where, \mu = mean time = 24 minutes

            \sigma = standard deviation = 7 minutes

(a) The probability that a randomly selected athlete uses a stairclimber for  less than 19 minutes is given by  P(X < 19 minutes)

        P(X < 19 min) = P( \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} < \frac{19-24}{7} ) = P(Z < -0.71) = 1 - P(Z \leq 0.71)

                                                           = 1 - 0.7612 = <u>0.2388</u>

The above probability is calculated by looking at the value of x = 0.71 in the z table which has an area of 0.7612.

(b) The probability that a randomly selected athlete uses a stairclimber for  between 24 and 33 minutes is given by = P(24 min < X < 33 min)

     P(24 min < X < 33 min) = P(X < 33 min) - P(X \leq 24 min)

     P(X < 33 min) = P( \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} < \frac{33-24}{7} ) = P(Z < 1.28) = 0.8997

     P(X \leq 24 min) = P( \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} \leq \frac{24-24}{7} ) = P(Z \leq 0) = 0.50

The above probability is calculated by looking at the value of x = 1.28 and x = 0 in the z table which has an area of 0.8997 and 0.50 respectively.

Therefore, P(24 min < X < 33 min) = 0.8997 - 0.50 = <u>0.3997</u>

(c) The probability that a randomly selected athlete uses a stairclimber for  more than 40 minutes is given by  P(X > 40 minutes)

        P(X > 40 min) = P( \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} > \frac{40-24}{7} ) = P(Z > 2.28) = 1 - P(Z \leq 2.28)

                                                           = 1 - 0.9887 = <u>0.0113</u>

The above probability is calculated by looking at the value of x = 2.28 in the z table which has an area of 0.9887.

The event of probability that a randomly selected athlete uses a stairclimber for  more than 40 minutes is unusual because this probability is less than 5% and any even whose probability is less than 5% is said to be unusual.

the diameter of earth is approximately 7926 miles. the diameter of the moon is approximately 2,159 miles. Approximately how many
Svetach [21]
To find how approximately how many moons could fit inside the earth, you would need yo find the volumes the earth and the moon.

V = 4/3 π r^3

Earth:
d = 2r
d = 7926 miles
7926 = 2r
3963 miles = r
V = 4/3 π (3963)^3
V = 4/3 π (62240377347)
V = 82987169796π cubic miles

Moon:
d = 2r
d = 2159 miles
2159 = 2r
1079.5 miles = r
V = 4/3 π (1079.5)^3
V = 4/3 π (1257963209.88)
V = 1677284279.83π cubic miles

Now you divide the volume of earth by the volume of moon to find how many moons can fit in earth
82987169796π ÷ 1677284279.83π =
approx 49

Rounding to the nearest whole number, 49 moons can fit in the earth.
Rounding to the tenth place, 50 moons can fit in the earth.

By what number should we multiply -3÷4so that the product will be -7÷8⛄
Makovka662 [10]
Let the number be x.

-(3/4)*x = -(7/8)

x = -(7/8)/-(3/4)

x = 7/8 * 4/3

x = 7/6

The number = 7/6

Please help me figure this one out !!!
strojnjashka [21]
These are "composite" functions.
g(x+a)  means insert (x+a) into g(x) to replace every x:
g(x+a) - g(x) = -5(x+a)^2 +4(x+a) +5x^2 - 4x
 = -5(x^2 + 2ax + a^2) +4x +4a + 5x^2 - 4x
Now just Multiply and sum up the answer.

Ms. Lawrence had $550 in her bank account. Thr next day she withdrew $120 to buy groceries. She deposited $200 two days later. F
Feliz [49]

Answer:

<em><u>$541</u></em>

Step-by-step explanation:

1). $550 - $120 = $430 left in her bank account.

2). $430 + $200 = $630 in her bank account.

3). $630 - $89 = $541 left in her bank account.

(Withdraw means removing some of your money out of your bank account, and deposit means putting money back in your bank account)

So, therefore, after all of those transactions, Ms. Lawrence's bank account has <u><em>$541.</em></u>

Hope this helps! <3

Find the distance between Point A(9, 10) and B(-1,9) to the nearest tenth.
olganol [36]

Answer:

10.0

Step-by-step explanation:

see attached for reference.

given two points in the x-y axis (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂)

the distance bettween them is given by

Distance, D = √ (    (x₂-x₁)²   + (y₂-y₁)²   )

In our case we are given points (9,10) and (-1,9)

substituting these into the formula , we get:

D = √ (    (9-10)²   + (-1-9)²   )

= √ (    (-1)²   + (-10)²   )

= √ (    1   + 100   )

=√101

= 10.04988

= 10.0 (rounded to nearest tenth)
