Effects of Italy's unification;

- Italy becomes an imperial power, united under the leadership of Victor Emmanuel of the Savoy family

- The Balance of Power in Europe has been tipped; Austria, France, and Britain are worried about the new competition.

- Germany would follow Italy's lead, forcing European powers to look outside of Europe for new areas to exploit for resources.

Effects of Germany's unification;

- German nationalists, liberals and Romantics initially welcomed the French revolution and saw the French armies as liberators.

- Defeat of Austria at the Battle of Austerlitz, 1805.

- Defeat of Prussia at the twin battles of Jena and Auerstadt, 1806.

- Napoleonic re-ordering of Germany: Holy Roman Empire abolished, Number of states reduced to 29, Puppet rulers installed in German states, Confederation of the Rhine formed, French legal system imposed.

- Napoleon's German campaigns and the experience of occupation tuned popular and liberal nationalist sentiment against Napoleon.

Italy:

Prior to unification, Italy was a collection of city states with a wide range of identities. The biggest effect, other than Italy speaking with one national voice, was a significant rise in nationalism. Italy went from not being unified to being rabidly proud of Italy and quite nationalistic.

Germany:

Basically the same. Germany unified under Bismarck and a rabid cult of nationalists was created that glorified Germanic influences in the world. Germany became a strong unified military power backed by rabid nationalism.

I'd probably go for either A or C.

Why was Egypt considered isolated and what was the benefit of its isolation
saul85 [17]

Answer:

Egypt was considered isolated because the civilization was only centered along the Nile, and had geographical features that cut it off from the rest of the world.

Explanation:

To the north, the Mediterranean Sea allowed communication with Anatolia and Greece, but only by sea, not by land.

To the west, the Sahara desert was a buffer with several nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes. To the East, the Sinai desert and peninsula made communications harder with Palestine, and Mesopotamia, and to the South, the Desert of Sudan made communications hard with Nubia and Ethiopia.

The benefit was a lower probability of conflict or invasion from other tribes, but it also had a drawback and was lesser trade and integration.
