Jane took a survey at school and found that 3 of the students surveyed planned to take wood shop as their next elective, while 9

of them planned to take other electives. If Jane surveys 16 more students, how many of them are probably planning on taking wood shop as an elective, based on past data?

Answer:

4 students

Step-by-step explanation:

Based on the previous data there were 12 students in total, 3 of them involved in wood shop elective. This would mean that 25% of all students were interested with wood shop elective since 3/12 is 1/4 (one out of every 4 students plan on taking wood shop)

If the same data holds up then for every 4 students out of the 16, one would be interested in wood shop elective. 16×(.25) or 25% of 16 which is 4 since 4×4=16.

PEMDAS - Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction

First, we do the exponents.

5² - 4 · 6 + 11

= 25 - 4 · 6 + 11

Next, multiplication (according to PEMDAS).

= 25 - 24 + 11

Although PEMDAS says addition then do subtraction, please note that this is totally interchangeable. For the sake of this problem, subtraction will be done first.

= 25 - 24 + 11

= 1 + 11

Finally, addition.

= 12

This is your answer. Happy studying~

A distribution has a mean of 90 and a standard deviation of 15. Samples of size 25 are drawn randomly from the population. Find
raketka [301]

Answer:

The probability is 0.04746

Step-by-step explanation:

Firstly, we calculate the z-score here

Mathematically;

z-score = x-mean/SD/√n

Where from the question;

x = 85, mean = 90 , SD = 15 and n = 25

Plugging these values into the equation, we have;

Z = (85-90)/15/√25 = -5/15/5 = -1.67

So the probability we want to calculate is ;

P(z > -1.67)

We use the standard normal distribution table for this;

P(z > -1.67) = 0.04746
