At noon, ship A is 180 km west of ship B. Ship A is sailing east at 35 km/h and ship B is sailing north at 25 km/h. How fast is
weeeeeb [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Gotta love these motion problems!!! This one is especially tricky! At noon, ship A is 180 km west of ship B. If ship A is traveling east, it is closing its distance to ship B (if ship B didn't move). But ship B is moving north at the same time. We need to find the distance each can travel in 4 hours using the d = rt formula. For ship A. We know it's moving at 35 km/h, so in 4 hours it can move d = 35(4) which is 140 km. Remember that is closing the distance to ship B. So it is 180 - 140 directly south of ship B. This problem will turn out to be a right triangle problem of sorts. The distance of 40 km serves as the base of this right triangle.

With ship B moving north at 25 km/hr, it can travel d = 25(4) which is 100 km. This serves as the height of the triangle. We are asked to find the rate at which the distance is changing 4 hours from their starting points. We know how far each can travel in those 4 hours, so in order to find the rate of change (which is the same thing as the slope!), we take the height and divide it by the base because that is the same thing as taking the rise over the run. 100/40 is 10/4 which is a rate of change of 2.5 km/hr

Artemon [7]

Answer: 11,600

you multiply 58,000 by 0.8 and you’d get 46,400. then you would subtract that number by 58,000 to get the answer of 11,600.

Can anyone help me with the 7th and 8th question which I have taken a bad photo of?
Vsevolod [243]
Question 7:

Define x :

Let the digit in the ones place be x.
The digit in the tens place is x+2.

The sum of the digit and its reverse is 66

Find x:

10(x + 2) + x + 10x + (x + 2) = 66
10x + 20 + x + 10x + x + 2 = 66
22x + 22 = 66
22x = 44
x = 2

Find the number:

The number in the ones place = x= 2
The number in the tens place = x = 2 + 2 = 4

Answer : The number is 42.

Question 8:

Define x:

Let the digit in the tens place be x.
The digit in the ones place is x+7.

The number = 10x + x + 7 = 11x + 7

If the digit interchange,
the number = 10(x + 7) + x = 10x + 70 + x = 11x + 70

Find x:

9(11x + 7) = 2(11x + 70)
99x + 63 = 22x + 140
99x - 22x = 140 - 63
77x = 77
x = 1

Find the number:

x = 1
x + 7 = 1 + 7 = 8
So the number is 18

Answer: The number is 18.

The manager of a video game store found that 35 of the 140 people who preordered the latest baseball game canceled their orders
irina1246 [14]

Using the data presented in the problem, you are asked to predict the probability that future customers will cancel their preorders. To find the probability, you have to divide the number of people who cancelled their preorders by the total number of people who preordered.

35 people / 140 people = .25 or 25% probability that the future customers will cancel their preorders.
