There are three degree of comparison: POSITIVE, COMPARATIVE and SUPERLATIVE. In this example the adjective “tall” is in the superlative form. A superlative adjectives describe a noun as having a particular quality that nobody else in a specific group or class has it. A superlative adjective is formed by adding –est.

Maybe that's the reason she's so alarm by her sister Jo's boisterous, tomboyish behavior.
