Designed after Iliad and Odyssey by Homer, Aeneid is an epic poem. It is compiled in twelve books. While the first six books of the Aeneid are similar to the Odyssey the second six books are parallel to the Iliad. Just as the structure of the poem is designed after the Iliad and Odyssey so is its style. The poem is subjective and written to praise Augustus and the Roman Empire. This fact shows Virgil's own beliefs.
