Intrinsic motivation is when one does something for their own benefit and not for a reward. For example, one may willingly study the life of animals for their own benefit of knowledge and not just to get an A on a test.

How does benito's conversation with camila, the camp director, at the end of his first work day act as foreshadowing?
xenn [34]

The answer is B.) it suggests that the camp director is really counting on a good performance, which puts pressure on Benito.

This question is about the short story Whistling My Troubles Away. When Benito took the job as a camp counselor, he did it for two reasons: to help his favorite cousin Luci and to make some extra money and buy himself a computer. Luci made it clear that the job was easy and all Benito was supposed to do was come up with a skit for the kids to perform by the end of two weeks.

When the camp director tells Benito the skit will be watched by a representative of a foundation, he gets nervous, believing he has to do a serious job coming up with a play. The conversation takes place after Benito’s first day, when he realized the kids were impossible to control.

Because of his nervousness, Benito starts whistling. This moment acts as foreshadowing since whistling is what helps Benito in the end. The kids are interested in learning how to whistle and Benito uses that as the skit. The representative is satisfied and agrees to fund the camp’s drama program. The camp director is grateful for his help and offers Benito a permanent position as a counselor.
