Say if one decimal is a higher number in the Tenths place, then it is larger than a decimal with fewer tenths. If the Tenths are equal compare the hundredths to thousandths and ect. Until one decimal is larger or there are no more places to compare. If each decimal place value is the same then the decimals are equal. Hope that helped! :)

1 tank of propane holds 5 gallons and will last 12 hours. how many gallons of propane is needed for 240 hours.
MAVERICK [17]

5 gallons        x gallons

------------- = ----------------

12 hours       240 hours

using cross products

5 * 240 = 12 * x

1200 = 12 x

divide each side by 12

1200/12 = 12x/12

100 =x

You will need 100 gallons

How do you find the radius of a cylinder when you only know the surface area?
Paha777 [63]

The surface area of a cylinder with circular bases of radius r and height h is equal to the sum of the areas of the two circular faces and the area of the rectangular lateral surface:

A = 2πr² + 2πrh

If you know the height h, then you can solve the quadratic equation for r.
