Find what x would be if y is 7, them find what x will be if y is 9.
If y is 7, x will be 2.
If y is 9, x will be 4.
So the answer is 2,4 or A.

A domain x ∈ {2, 4 }

To find the domain, that is the values of x that produce the values in the range , solve for x , that is

x + 5 = 7 ⇒ x = 7 - 5 = 2

x + 5 = 9 ⇒ x = 9 - 5 = 4

Solve each system of equations by substitution. <br> 2x + 2y = 3 x - 4y = -1
Shtirlitz [24]

Step-by-step explanation:

2x + 2y = 3 ( x2 for everything in the equation)

x - 4y = -1

4x+ 4y = 6

x - 4y = -1

Add the 1st line to the 2nd line to get rid of the y:

5x = 5

x - 4y = -1  ( you can pick any line from this system to be the second equation in this step, you can put 2x + 2y = 3 or 4x+ 4y = 6, anything above this step, but to make it simple chose the one you think is the easiest)

Solve for x, then plug the x value into the 2nd equation

x = 1

1 - 4y = -1

x = 1

-4y = -2 =) y = 1/2

x = 1

y= 1/2

What is the discriminant of f(x)=2x^2+8x+16 <br>and the number and type of roots
vfiekz [6]

Answer:

2 imaginary roots

Step-by-step explanation:

The discriminate is the portion of the quadratic equation under the square root

D = b^2 - 4ac

D = 8^2 - 4(2)(16)

D = 64 - 128

D = -64

Since the discriminate is negative the square root will be imaginary

and there will be 2 of them

2 imaginary roots

After a storm, two street lights with the same length are leaning against each
Ray Of Light [21]

Answer:

c = 4.79 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Given question is incomplete without a picture; find the question with the attachment.

Two poles AD and DB of same length are leaning against each other.

Distance between the poles (AB) = 45 feet

m(∠ADB) = 180°- (60 + 50)°

               = 70°

By sine rule,

\frac{sin50}{AD}=\frac{sin70}{45}=\frac{sin60}{DB}

AD=\frac{45\times (sin50)}{sin70}

      = 36.68 ft

Similarly,

DB = \frac{45\times sin60}{sin70}

     = 41.47 ft

Now c = DB - AD

           = 41.47 - 36.68

           = 4.79 feet
