The reason it's so confusing is because the left side is cut up into
so many pieces. If you put the pieces together first, it'll look a lot
neater, and it'll be a lot easier to solve.

Look at just the left side. We're just going to clean up what's already
there. We won't do anything to change its value, so we don't have to
worry yet about doing the same things to the other side.

Look at the terms that are just plain numbers. There's a +25 and a +21.
Those go together to make +46 .

Now look at the terms that have 'x' in them. There's a -3x and a +x.
Those add up to make -2x .

What we just did is called "combine like terms". Add up the plain numbers,
and add up the terms with 'x' in them.

So now the equation says:           46 - 2x  =  2

Subtract  46  from each side:        -2x  =  -44

Divide each side by  -2 :                   x  =  22

Once you clean it up, it goes really fast.

Solve for x.
−x+8=−9
Enter your answer as a number, like this: 42
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

x=17

Hope it helps;)

Step-by-step explanation:

Subtract 8 from both sides of the equation

-x+8=9

-x+8-8=9-8

Simplify

Subtract the numbers

x= -17

Divide both sides of the equation by the same term

x= 17

-x/-1= -17/-1

Simplify

Cancel terms that are both in the numerator and denominator

Divide the numbers

x = 17

How do I go about solving the problem?
s344n2d4d5 [400]

Answer:

See below.

Step-by-step explanation:

You have already drawn the line x = -1 . This is the vertical line passing through the point F.

So if we reflect across this line, F will stay where it is at (-1,-1) (because F is on the 'mirror'). E is 3 units in front of the line so is reflected 3 units the other side.

The image of E, E' will be at (2, -3). The image of G, G' will be at (-2,-3).

Find the equation of the line passing through the point (1, 7) with a slope of -2.
Mariulka [41]

Answer:

y=-2x+9

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The equation of a line in point slope form is equal to

y-y1=m(x-x1)

In this problem we have

(x1,y1)=(1,7)\\m=-2

substitute

y-7=-2(x-1)

Convert to slope intercept form

y=mx+b

y-7=-2x+2

y=-2x+2+7

y=-2x+9

Sally earns 200 dollars for working 10 hours. What is the independent variable
Neporo4naja [7]

A good way to figure out an independent variable is to know what a dependend variable is and its bascially what changes because of the independent variable. So the dependent variable is the $200 because it changes due to the amount of hours Sally worked thus meaning the independent variable would be 10 hours.
