The story “Paul’s Case” is set during the winter, it symbolizes the end of the things in literature and this end leads Paul to commit suicide. The atmosphere and the setting of the story are cold and harsh. However, the story “The Cask of Amontillado” ends in the death of Fortunato which gives the readers a gothic experience.
