Sally's painting speed = 1 room / 8 hours

Steve's painting speed = 1 room / 9 hours

Combined painting speed = 1 room / 8 hours + 1 room / 9 hours

=> 1/9 + 1/8 = [8 + 9] / 72 = 17 / 72

So, they paint 17 / 72 parts of room per hour.

=> 1 room / x = 17 room /72 hours

=> x = 1 * 72 hours / 17 room = 4.235 hours.

You can verify how much each one has painted in 4.235hours

Sally: 1/8 * (72/17) = 9/17 parts of a room

Steve: 1/9 * (72/17) = 8/17 parts of a room

Sally + Steve = 9/17 + 8/17 = 17/17 = 1 room

You are a screenwriter who is writing a script for an hour-long police drama. You have written 20 1/2 pages for act 1 and 5 1/2
finlep [7]

Answer:

You have written 26 pages in total.

Step-by-step explanation:

I always enjoyed adding fractions. Something about it is so... simple.

The problem is basically asking us to add 20 1/2 and 5 1/2 together.

I would first suggest adding both halves together, to make 1.

That way, we're left with 20 + 5 + 1. That seem easier, doesn't it?

Then we would add 20, 5 and 1 together, to get 26 whole pages.

And that, to an extent, is how I did it.

Hope this helps! :D

Explain to me in words how you would find the slope of this line and explain answer
Andrews [41]
Answer:
7/3

Explanation:
The slope of the line is equal to the rise/run, or in other words, the number of units the line travels upwards over the number of units the line travels to the right.

We can identify the slope using any two points on the line. Here, we can use the two points that are marked on the picture. The second point is 7 units above the first and 3 units to the right of the first, so the slope of the line is equal to 7/3.

Another way to calculate the slope of the line is the use this formula:

(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

The first point is at the coordinate (1,-4) and second point is at the coordinate (4,3). When we plug these two coordinates into the equation, we get this:

(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
->(3-(-4))/(4-1)

When we simply the fraction, we would get 7/3 and that would give us the slope.

I hope this helps!
