I'm pretty sure it's y=4x-7. I could be wrong but the way I set it up is definitely close if not correct

⇒y = \frac{16}{2} = 8

⇒ y = 8

Put value of y in equation (3), we get

x + 3(8) = 25

⇒x + 24 = 25

⇒x = 25 - 24 = 1

⇒x = 1

∴ we get

Mrs. grub bought total number of hats = y = 8
