Answer:

8. The rain falls like the sun, rising upon the mountains. - <u>D. simile </u>

9. The fly buzzed past us. - <u>C. onomatopoeia </u>

10.The sunflowers nodded their yellow heads. - <u>B. personification</u>

11. Charming children chat in the corner.- <u>A. alliteration </u>

12.We had to wait forever!- <u>B. hyperbole </u>

13. My life is a dream of wonders.- <u>A. metaphor</u>

14. It really burned me up when you yelled at me.-<u> A. idiom </u>

15. He clattered and clanged as he washed the dishes.- <u>D. onomatopoeia</u>

Explanation:

8. Simile is a a figurative language that is used in comparing one thing with another thing but from different types. This comparison is made so as to show the similarity of what the thing is to what it is compared to/ with.

In the given sentence, the comparison is between the sun and the rain.

9. Onomatopoeia is the use or construction of the word or phrase from the phonetic sound of the action caused.

In the sentence, the onomatopoeic sound is the word "buzzed" which is the sound that is made by a bee.

10. Personification is the attribution of humanistic qualities to an abstract thought or idea.

In the sentence, the personification is in the characterization of the sunflowers, shown "nodding their yellow heads" like they are human beings.

11. Alliteration is the formation of words with the same letter of the alphabet acting as the first letter of each of the words in succession or close duration.

In the sentence, the alliteration is in the use of the letter "c" in "charming, children, chat, corner".

12. Hyperbole is a figurative language which uses extreme excess, exaggerated words to describe something or anything. This excessive "over the top" use of words in describing anything is mainly to lay an extra emphasis on the issue, though it is normally not to be taken seriously.

In the sentence given, the hyperbole is in the word "forever" which shows that they had to wait a long time which feels like forever.

13. Metaphors are the figure of speech where one thing is applied for an object or thing but which cannot be applicable in reality.

So, by describing his life as a "dream of wonders", the speaker is using metaphor in trying to say how his life is.

14. An idiom is a group of words or phrases that are used to suggest a more deeper meaning to what has been implied.

By the use of the idiom "burned me up", the speaker means that it made him really angry when he was yelled at.

15. Onomatopoeia is the use or construction of the word or phrase from the phonetic sound of the action caused.

S, the onomatopoeic words in the sentence are "clattered" and "clanged", which are the sounds made by the dishes that are being washed.

Determine the class of the italicized pronoun.

Answer:

Demonstrative

Explanation:

<em>Those </em>is a word for a demonstrative pronoun.

Demonstrative pronouns are those that are identifying and pointing out something. They can point out a person, a place, a moment, and can be singular or plural.

However,<u> in this specific sentence, there is no pronoun, but those is used as a demonstrative adjective. </u>

The words for demonstrative adjectives and pronouns are the same (<em>this, these, that, those</em>), but the difference is that the pronouns stand-alone, <u>adjectives stand with the noun and modify it.</u> The only difference is in the structure of the sentence.

<em>Those </em>stands with the word <em>scouts </em>and modifies it,  showing us which scouts do we talk about. <u>That is how we know it is the case of the adjective and not the pronoun. </u>

Based on Clarisse's point of view, how are things in Bradbury's world similar AND different than today's world? You must use tex
lesya692 [45]

This question is about "Fahrenheit 451".

Answer and Explanation:

Clarisse's point of view shows that the current world as well as the world of Bradbury is full of people who allow themselves to be alienated by useless television programs, are blinded by the media and cannot see beyond what is shown to them. However, there are differences between these two worlds, since in the current world we are free to refuse this type of alienation and to improve ourselves in studies, readings, family interaction and our aggrandizement.

Based on this, I believe that Bradbury wants to show how important it is that we consume television media in a controlled manner, without letting it take away what is most important to us, our rationality.

On the roof of Bradbury, Clarisse was raised in a family that encourages reading and reasoning, socializing and conversation, rejecting alienation from TV. This gives Clarissa the perception and the power to search for her own concepts, values and beliefs.
