How is the theme of individuality vs. conformity reflected in the novel of the outsiders?
evablogger [386]

PonyBoy, Dally and Johnny are at the drive in and talking to Cherry. Pony Boy and Johnny don't like the way Dally is talking to Cherry, but they don't really say anything. Cherry's pretty tough on her own and stands up to Dally, but I always thought that scene showed how Johnny and PonyBoy were both pressured to conform to that "tough" behavior.  It's been awhile since I read the book, but I recall that there was a conversation between, I think, PonyBoy and Bob. It was PonyBoy and a Soc at any rate. I also thought it showed conformity by showing how vastly different the Soc was without his friends around. When you get one of either gang alone, they're nothing like the gang as a whole. So it highlights both the individual and the conformity

Do you believe it’s possible for non-Christians or those who don’t hold Scripture as a sacred text to believe in the sanctity of
Rainbow [258]

Answer:

Please put into your own words. These are just my personal opinion. P.S. my assignment hasn't been graded yet.

Explanation:

1. Do you believe it’s possible for non-Christians or those who don’t hold Scripture as a sacred text to believe in the sanctity of human life? Why or why not?

To be completely honest I believe everyone and not just christians should take action in keeping human life sanctity. My reasoning behind this statement is that not only does it make sense from a biblical point of view but it should be common sense to want human life to believe that each and every human being has an inviolable dignity and immeasurable worth is one of the most precious. Sanctity of life is a principle of implied protection regarding aspects of sentient life that are said to be holy, sacred, or otherwise of such value that they are not to be violated.

2. Why do you think that some Christians often focus only on abortion as a sanctity of life issue while other Christians primarily emphasize care for the poor or opposition to war?

I think that some Chirstian focus mainly on the abortion part of things because recently abortion laws and lines are getting thinner and thinner. There a total of 629,898 abortions for 2019 were reported to CDC. Again for Chirstians that focus mainly on a certain part of sanctity in life is a biased way of thinking. Each individual is going to have a different mindset on different things that are going on in the world. For the Chirstian focusing mainly on the ant-violence and anti-war side of things are just more focused on peace in the world even though it’s going to get worse day by day because we are getting closer to the second coming of Jesus.

3. Have you ever considered the theological importance of God becoming a human in Jesus as it relates to this issue? How does it influence our understanding of humanity that Jesus himself was a tiny embryo, a small child, a poor homeless person, a convicted criminal, and a victim of violent death?

Without the Incarnation, we would have no Savior. The law tells us that sin requires death for its payment, God cannot die, so, the Savior must be human in order to be able to die. God put himself in our shoes and fleshly desires and temptations so he goes through a human life to become a living sacrifice for our sins. God wanted Jesus to be our role model to be more like him.

4. Where is your own perspective on the sanctity of human life deficient? In light of the holistic vision presented in Scripture, what people are you most prone to ignore or neglect in giving proper dignity to?

This question is YOUR OPINION on the sancctity of life so take what information from the book (The Sanctity of Human Life by David P. Gushee)
