What is the purpose of meat tenderizer in dna and rna lab?

Biology

Meat tenderizers contain proteases, which are enzymes that break down proteins. In meat, they break down the proteins that make up muscle, softening the meat in the process.

In DNA extraction, they break down the protein core, called a histone, that the DNA is supercoiled around. It's the supercoiling that allows a few meters worth of DNA to be compacted into a microscopic structure, and it also plays a role in gene regulation.

To a lesser extent, the proteases in the tenderizer can break down DNase enzymes (since enzymes are proteins too), which chop up DNA (to protect the cell from some viruses). Normally, the DNase is kept separate from the cell's DNA, but when you add detergent to the cells and break apart the membranes, all of the components can mix together and lead to unintended reactions.

When you break down the histone proteins, the DNA uncoils and stretches out, allowing you to see it and wind it around a stick (if your extraction protocol includes that step).

emmainna [20.7K]

Answer:

Vaccine for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella should be delayed.

Explanation:

Generally IVIG usually inhibit the immune response, to the live pathogen used to induce response in the vaccine.Consequently, given another vaccine immediately may have adverse effect on the immune system of the child. Therefore a period of intervals should be set between administration of IVIG and other vaccines.

Based on standard recommendation; this depends on the nature of vaccine the child needs. Thus if

the child needs vaccine for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, the delay should be 10monts.

A peroid of 5-months is needed to wait if Varicella vaccine is needed.

When you begin an experiment, why should you create a table to record your data?
Salsk061 [2.6K]
It helps you organize your data, and so its not a complete mess when you need to refer back to it. It will help you organize and not confuse and miscompare information. It also looks better and looks like you know what you're doing.

Leni [432]

Bright cherry red color is produced upon the addition of methyl red indicator to a culture of a Gram negative bacilli in MR-VP broth if the organism used the mixed acid pathway of fermentation.

What is MR-VP test?

 • As part of the IMViC testing, Methyl Red (MR) and Voges-Proskauer (VP) broth is utilized as the medium in which both the Methyl Red and Voges-Prosakuer tests can be conducted.
 • It is a straightforward broth made up of dextrose or glucose, buffers, and peptone.
 • In the Methyl Red test, an infected tube of MR-VP broth is mixed with the pH indicator methyl red.
 • The acids will overwhelm the buffers in the medium and create an acidic environment if the organism employs the mixed acid fermentation pathway and creates stable acidic end products.
 • If acidic end products are present when methyl red is introduced, the methyl red will remain red.
