Dear, (anyone younger than you)
When you reach my age you’re going to realize life is tough. Trying to fit in or trying not to stand out, I know it’s kind of a cliché but I read the book ‘Wonder’. Honestly it spoke to me; “Why fit in when you were born to stand out” when I read that quote I got chills you KNOW something hits you real hard when you get chills or when your heart drops for a second. Seriously if you have any doubt about yourself know that whoever is making you question that is wrong. Even if that person is yourself, though it may be hard to see now trust me you are beautiful.

Sincerely, (your name)

Ps. (You could add this if you want to make a joke to lighten the mood cause what I gave you is kinda deep and a lil dark.)

How is conformity and individuality shown in "no gumption"
Vesna [10]

Individuality has been shown in "No Gumption" by showing the traits and the characteristics of Russell Baker that his mother realized which made him a writer. One of that situation was when he was eleven years old, he brought a text graded with A and his mother decided he could be a writer

Explanation:

"No Gumption" is a chapter taken from autobiography of Russell Baker where he tells how for his mother he did not have gumption at all, he was a shy boy who had to help his family in a difficult time, after his father's death. In this chapter, the writer is in the obligation of selling magazines to support his family, but the decision was made by his mother, because he was the man of the family and he was superposed to bring some money.

Unfortunately he was not like his younger sister Doris, who was intelligent and diligent. He had this job during a time, but he did not succeed, he did not feel comfortable ringing doors, actually, he felt scared of this. Finally, when he was eleven years old, he brought a text graded with A and his mother decided he could be a writer, and this time he liked this decision, because writers did not have to sell, writers did not have to ring doors.

Which underlined phrases are participial phrases? Select two options.
Evgen [1.6K]

Tired from practice, AND Spending too much time preparing for a match

Participial phrases are verb phrases that act as adjectives to describe nouns. Putting these participial phrases into a sentence makes it easier to see how this works. Tired from practice, Justin decided to take a nap before doing his homework. In this sentence, "tired from practice" describes Justin. Spending too much time preparing for a match, Justin felt unprepared for his Calculus test. "Spending too much time preparing for a match" also describes Justin.

Readers of beowulf hope that grendel will be destroyed, but readers of grendel are most likely to.
Ghella [55]

Readers of beowulf hope that grendel will be destroyed, but readers of grendel are most likely to understand Grendel's perspective

Grendel is portrayed in the poem Beowulf as a terrifying beast with some very unfavourable features that some would hope the hero would destroy.

However, a closer reading of the poem would show that Grendel's motivation for his actions was a deep-seated desire for vengeance for being one of the victims of King Hrothgar and his men's conquest.

According to the poem, "he nurses a severe grievance" and was "haunting the matches" or boundary, which is where he was probably banished. Grendel's actions in this poem may be understood by a reader as the outcome of these factors.
