Which expression is not equivalent to the other expressions?
emmainna [20.7K]

-4(3x + 6) is not equivalent to other expressions

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Let us use the distributive property to get the equivalent expression

<em><u>Distributive property is represented as:</u></em>

a(b + c) = ab + ac

<h3><u>First expression:</u></h3>

-6(2x - 4) = (-6 \times 2x) + (-6 \times -4) =  -12x + 24

<h3><u>Second expression:</u></h3>

Using distributive property,

-(12x - 6) + 18 = -12x + 6 + 18 = -12x + 24

<h3><u>Third expression:</u></h3>

Solve the expression using distributive property

-3(4x-3) + 15 = ((-3 \times 4x)+(-3 \times -3)) \\\\-3(4x-3) + 15= -12x + 9 + 15 \\\\-3(4x-3) + 15=-12x + 24

<h3><u>Fourth expression:</u></h3>

-4(3x + 6)= -4 \times 3x + -4 \times 6\\\\-4(3x + 6)= -12x -24

Thus fourth expression is not equivalent to other expressions

Solve for x in the following equation.
Marta_Voda [28]

An equation is formed of two equal expressions. The value of x in the given exponential equation is 10. The correct option is 10.

<h3>What is an equation?</h3>

An equation is formed when two equal expressions are equated together with the help of an equal sign '='.

In the given exponential equation 5^{x-2}=5^8, It can be observed that the base of both the sides of the equation is the same, therefore, 5. Therefore, the equation can be written as,

5^{x-2}=5^8

Since the base on both the sides are the same, comparing the exponential values on both sides,

x - 2 = 8

x = 8  + 2

x = 10

Hence, the value of x in the given exponential equation is 10.

miv72 [106K]
If she reads 50 pages of a book in 50 minutes, just divide 50 by 50.

50 / 50 = 1    She reads one page of a book a minute.
