Equation 1)  x = 3y - 6
Equation 2)  2x - 4y - 8

Basically, for equation 1, you would move the 3y to the other side so that x and y are on the same side. However, because it is a positive, when moving it over, it becomes a negative.

1)  x - 3y = -6
2)  2x - 4y = 8

Multiply ALL of equation 1 by 2 so that you could find the value of y.

1)  2(x - 3y = -6)

1)  2x - 6y = -12
2)  2x - 4y = 8

Subtract equations :)

-2y = -20

Divide both sides of the equation by -2, so that y is isolated.

y = -20/-2

y = 10

Plug in 10 for y in the first equation :)

x = 3y - 6

x = 3(10) - 6

Simplify.

x = 30 - 6

Simplify.

x = 24

So, x = 24, and y = 10

~Hope I helped!~

X = 3y - 6 so:
2(3y - 6) - 4y = 8
6y - 12 - 4y = 8
2y - 12 = 8
2y = 20
y = 10

x = 3(10) - 6
x = 30 - 6
x = 24

If you add the lengths of the focal radii of an ellipse, what other value will you produce?
ss7ja [257]

Equation of an ellipse

→having center (0,0) , vertex ((\pm a ,0) and covertex (\pm b ,0) and focus (\pm c ,0) is given by:

\frac{x^2}{a^2} + \frac{y^2}{b^2}=1

As definition of an ellipse is that locus of all the points in a plane such that it's  distance from two fixed points called focii  remains constant.

Consider two points (a,0) and (-a,0) on Horizontal axis of an ellipse:

Distance from (a,0) to (c,0) is = a-c = F_{1}

Distance from (-a,0) to (c,0) is = a + c = F_{2}

F_{1} + F_{2} = a -c + a +c

          = a + a

        = 2  a  →(Option A )

Caleb is making lemonade and cookies for the school bake sale. He has 10 cups of
Goryan [66]

Answer:

He can make only one batch of cookies.

Step-by-step explanation:

Just by mental math you can say he can make maximum one batch of cookies.

Total sugar = 10 cups

sugar used for lemonade = 2 cups

leftover sugar = 8 cups

For 1 batch of cookie sugar needed = 11/2

which means 5 and 1/2 cups

And he's just left with 8 cups of sugar after lemonade

8 - 5 1/2 = 2 1/2 which is not enough for 2nd batch

That means the maximum number of cookies batches is 1.

Another way to solve it by inequality:

2+Il/2 X <u><</u> 10

11/2 X <u><</u> 8

11X <u><</u> 16

X <u><</u> 1 6/11

So he can make only one batch of cookies.

The longer leg of a right triangle is 6cm longer than the shorter leg and also 1cm longer than the hyptenese. find the perimeter
CaHeK987 [17]
X - a leg  (x > 6);
x - 6 - a leg;
x + 1 - a <span>hypotenuse;</span>
Use the Pythagorean theorem
(x+1)^2=x^2+(x-6)^2

Use:(a\pm b)^2=a^2\pm2ab+b^2

x^2+2x+1=x^2+x^2-12x+36\ \ \ |-x^2-2x-1\\\\x^2-14x+35=0\ \ \ |-35\\\\x^2-14x=-35\\\\x^2-2\cdot x\cdot7=-35\ \ \ |+7^2\\\\x^2-2\cdot x\cdot7+7^2=-35+7^2\\\\(x-7)^2=14\iff x-7=\pm\sqrt{14}\ \ \ |+7\\\\x=7-\sqrt{14} < 6;\ x=7+\sqrt{14}

x=7+\sqrt{14}\\x-6=1+\sqrt{14}\\x+1=8+\sqrt{14}

The perimeter:

7+\sqrt{14}+1+\sqrt{14}+8+\sqrt{14}=16+3\sqrt{14}
