The Caledonian orogeny of Baltica formed simultaneously with Ellesmere Appalachian orogeny.
The Caledonian orogeny of Baltica produced tectonic-metamorphic events along the east coast of North America, Greenland, the British Isles, Fennoscandia, and Central Asia.
The Caledonian orogeny was formed by the closure of the Iapetus ocean when the continents and terranes of Baltica, Laurentia, and Avalonia collided.
The Caledonian orogeny and Ellesmere Appalachian orogeny mountains are recognized to be the roots of the same Paleozoic orogenic belt. Thus, this has since been split in two with the opening of the Atlantic.
Hence, the Caledonian orogeny of Baltica formed simultaneously with Ellesmere Appalachian orogeny.
