The major difference between intramembranous ossification and Endochondral Ossification are as follows –  

a) Intramembranous ossification forms bones that are soft, spongy and compact while endochondral ossification does not actually form bone. It produces and refines cartilages

b) In the Intramembranous ossification bones are formed by refining sheets of undifferentiated connective tissue i.e mesenchymal while endochondral ossification refines the hyaline cartilage

c) The process of intramembranous ossification is slower than that of endochondral ossification.
