The Monroe Doctrine was a principle of non-interference advocated by President James Monroe during his annual speech in 1823. The message behind this doctrine was to stop the European powers from interfering in the affairs of the Western Hemisphere ( Americas).
It warned against the Europeans from interfering into the matters of the independent nations of the Western Hemisphere as U.S grew a close relationship with its continental neighbor, the Americas.
