According to James 1:15, sin develops from the evil desires of a person (tempted by Satan) and this desire grew into something bigger until it completely overtakes the person and kills him, 'condemned' to eternal death/ suffering without the forgiving grace of God.

Explanation:

James 1: 15 states "Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."

This is a metaphor for how sin emerges in a person.

James addresses how sin came into the world and entice people to do evil in the eyes of the Lord. According to him, sin develops in a person only from Satan and not from God, "For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone"(1:13). And when a person is tempted, the sin 'enters' into him, grows inside, and then just like childbirth, gives birth to another sin, or a much bigger sin. This means that sin develops and emerges bigger until it is completely removed and destroyed.

To put it simply, it's like this. A person is tempted by Satan to do sin, be it murder or anything. Then, this desire to do it will lead to an infatuation, of sorts. And once this desire is acted out, it will lead to more sins if not curbed or stopped. And as this sinful act grows, it will mature and eventually lead to the death of the person if he doesn't stop or repent.

Likewise, sin is conceived from the negative desire within a person, which then grows and if not curbed, or repented, it will only lead to the death of the person without the graceful forgiving act of God, and thus, the person becomes eternally dam ned.

The "Marshall Plan" was named after the man who then was US Secretary of State, George C. Marshall. Officially the plan was called the European Recovery Program. Marshall announced the plan in 1947, and it went into effect in 1948. The intent was to provide aid and rebuilding to European economies after the damaging effects of World War II. Eastern bloc countries, however, rejected the plan, so it ended up as a plan that benefited Western European nations and not Eastern European nations.

In his speech introducing the plan, Secretary Marshall had said: "Our policy is not directed against any country, but against hunger, poverty, desperation and chaos. Any government that is willing to assist in recovery will find full co-operation on the part of the United States. Its purpose should be the revival of a working economy in the world so as to permit the emergence of political and social conditions in which free institutions can exist."

The view in the communist-controlled Eastern bloc was that the US was trying to use such a policy to spread its influence and threaten their patterns of government under communism. So the plan ended up building allies for the US in Western Europe, while the Eastern European countries sided with the Soviet Union.

ZLATA’S DIARY begins in September of 1991 as a typical fifth-grade enthusiasm, recording the beginning of school in Sarajevo and vacations to Jahorina, the “most beautiful mountain in the world.” Within six weeks, her hometown was at war, and she was soon facing deprivation and the death of friends and classmates.

Often there was no gas or electricity. Zlata and her father were forced to haul buckets of water to their apartment building. Bombs were falling continuously, forcing the family to move into their damp, dark cellar. Sometimes Zlata would be left by herself while both of her parents worked. Constantly worried about the safety of her relatives and her own well being, she feared that the war would never end and poured her deepest feelings into her beloved diary, which she named Mimmy.

Most of Zlata’s friends had moved earlier to escape the progressively worsening conflict. When bombs and shrapnel killed those who remained, she wrote in frustration: “STOP SHOOTING” and “PEACE, PEACE, PEACE!” In a final entry dated October 17, 1993, written before sending her diary “out into the world” to be published, Zlata recorded the results of a terrible day of bombing: 590 shells beginning at 4:30 a.m., six dead, fifty-six wounded. “I keep thinking that we’re alone in this hell,” she wrote. Nevertheless, she refused to yield to despair. With youthful heroes and loving family members confirming her belief in the ultimate decency of humanity, she chose to share this touching record of hope in the midst of tragedy.
