I think that it would not be in the middle in you did not put the compass on the points A and B. Is this what you are talking about?

Answer:

The compass point must be placed on points A and B because you need to make arcs which would allow you to make the perpendicular line through the given line. The construction would be different if the compass point were placed at random points on the original line because then the line would not be lined up correctly in the middle and it will not be correct, hence why you need to put the compass on A and B.

Graph inequality by shading like x< 3 is shaded to right or left ? of 3
Scilla [17]

Answer:

x<3 means x is less than 3.

Think about a number line, the more left you go, the smaller the numbers get.

So, to represent x<3, you would shade to the left.

Let me know if this helps!

Use the interactive to make a vertical line with the equation of x = 3. The line x = 3 has slope.
Sliva [168]

Answer:

Slope of equation x = 3 is not defined.

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph for equation x = 3 is attached.

As clear from the graph, x=3, is a straight line parallel to y-axis.

Slope:

 • Since the given equation of line is parallel to the y-axis and parallel lines have same slope.
 • Parallel lines have the same slope and will never intersect. Parallel lines continue, literally, forever without touching

Thus, the given equation will have the same slope as the y-axis.

The slope of y-axis is not defined.

Hence, the slope of this line is not defined.

What is the interval notation for the compound inequality? x ≤ −4 or x ≥ 5
torisob [31]

Answer:

(-∞, -4] ∪ [5, ∞)

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi!

Alright, so greater (or less) than or equal to is denoted with a bracket.

If x is less than or equal to -4, then the bracket is on the left side.

(___, -4]

Because x is any number under or equal to -4, x can range from negative infinity. However, we use a parentheses for infinity because infinity can never truly be reached.

So, x \leq -4 = (-∞, -4]

X\geq5

Equal to = bracket

X is any number above 5, so

[5, ∞)

Because we want both of these, we use the union sign (∪)

so,

= (-∞, -4] ∪ [5, ∞)
