Beta thalassemia is a blood disorder that reduces the production of hemoglobin
A person with beta thalassemia majorly require periodic and lifelong blood transfusions to maintain a hemoglobin level higher than 9.5 g per dL (95 g per L) and sustain normal growth.

Individuals with beta thalassemia major usually present within the first two years of life with severe anemia, poor growth, and skeletal abnormalities during infancy. Untreated thalassemia major eventually leads to death, usually by heart failure; therefore, birth screening is very important.

Which of the following heart chambers is correctly associated with the blood vessel that enters or leaves it?
Brrunno [24]

Answer:

The correct answer is C.

Explanation:

Blood enters the heart through the superior vena cava and the inferior vena cava into the right atrium. When the right atrium contracts, this poor oxygen blood flows to the right ventricle through the tricuspid valve. The valve then closes and the right ventricle contracts ejecting blood through the pulmonary trunk and pulmonary arteries to the lungs to be oxygenated.

Pulmonary veins carry oxygen-rich blood from the lungs into the left atrium. Then the atrium contracts and blood flows from your left atrium into your left ventricle through the mitral valve. The valve then closes, the left ventricle contracts and blood leaves the heart through the aortic valve, into the aorta and to the body.

iogann1982 [59]

Answer:

This is not plagiarism

Explanation:

Remember, plagiarism is a bad practice of taking someone else's written text or document as if it was your own.

Note the Student's version has no trace of plagiarised text since there is no word for word copying. However, the student version implores deductive reasoning by connecting and summarising the information from the original version.

Describe the two membranes covering the heart.
alex41 [277]

Answer: Fibrous pericardium and Serous Pericardium

Explanation:

The pericardium can be defined as the fibroserous sac( double layered) which covers the whole heart. The gap between two layers of serous pericardium is filled with serous fluid. This fluid protects the heart from external shocks.

Fibrous pericardium

This layer is the most superficial layer which consists of dense connective tissue. This layer of the heart protects it from over filling of blood, anchors the heart to the surrounding wall.

Serous pericardium

This layer provides lubrication to the heart by resisting the friction which occurs during the various type of heart function.
