Answer:

The purpose of the last line of the poem is to provide a bitter irony (option A).

Explanation:

The excerpt in the picture was taken from the poem "Richard Cory", by Edwin Arlington Robinson. The poem was written while the American people were still suffering due to the depression of 1893. The speaker in the poem is poor, lives waiting for the light, without meat, eating stale bread. He and others just like him wish to be Richard Cory, a wealthy and elegant man. As the last line reveals, however, being rich is not sufficient for Cory to be happy. While the poor keep on living, working, and struggling, Richard Cory ironically kills himself, even though he has a seemingly perfect life.

The poem "Richard Cory" was adapted into a song by Paul Simon and recorded by Simon & Garfunkel.

can someone give me a short summary of act 5 of romeo and juliet but from romeos perspective please ? QUICKLY
Simora [160]

Answer:

On Wednesday morning, on a street in Mantua, a cheerful Romeo describes a wonderful dream he had the night before: Juliet found him lying dead, but she kissed him, and breathed new life into his body. Just then, Balthasar enters, and Romeo greets him happily, saying that Balthasar must have come from Verona with news of Juliet and his father. Romeo comments that nothing can be ill in the world if Juliet is well. Balthasar replies that nothing can be ill, then, for Juliet is well: she is in heaven, found dead that morning at her home. Thunderstruck, Romeo cries out, “Then I defy you, stars”

He tells Balthasar to get him pen and paper (with which he writes a letter for Balthasar to give to Montague) and to hire horses, and says that he will return to Verona that night. Balthasar says that Romeo seems so distraught that he is afraid to leave him, but Romeo insists. Romeo suddenly stops and asks if Balthasar is carrying a letter from Friar Lawrence. Balthasar says he is not, and Romeo sends his servant on his way. Once Balthasar is gone, Romeo says that he will lie with Juliet that night.

What indicates that the author's purpose is to inform readers about travel south of Madagascar and Zanzibar?
g100num [7]

This question is missing the excerpt. I will not add it here because it is quite long, but the complete question can be easily found online. The excerpt belong to "The Travels of Marco Polo".

Answer:

The option that indicates that the author's purpose is to inform readers about travel south of Madagascar and Zanzibar is:

A. The author shares facts and specific details about the difficulty of sailing in the region.

Explanation:

Marco Polo was a Venetian adventurer who lived from 1254 to 1324. "The Travels of Marco Polo" is a book based on his trips and discoveries and written by Rusticiano de Pisa, who met Polo and had the chance to hear the adventurer himself tell the stories.

In the excerpt that can be found online, the author is informing readers about travel south of Madagascar and Zanzibar. The passage is written as it it were Polo himself describing the difficult travel conditions in the region. He provides readers with facts about the currents that prevent ships from going a certain direction. According to him, the currents are always southward. A ship may take 20 days to go a certain way, but three months to return precisely because of the currents.
