Sun Yat Sen used nationalism to help unite the 5 unique peoples of China. He had a flag made that used colors from each of their flags. He insisted they could not be a democratic nation as long as there was racial differences and must work united.M. Ataturk was a commander in Turkey. After the defeat in WWI he returned to Turkey determined to make it a democratic state. He made sure all people including women were provided a free and mandatory education. He made sure that the women were given equal rights and civil rights. He did much to lower the taxes on the poor. Ghandi led India towards nationalism by using non-violent civil disobedience.
